The shocking death of Matthew Perry’s, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, left the world in disbelief. The Initial Shock: Was It Just an Accident?

Matthew Perry’s sudden death on October 28, 2023, sent waves of sorrow across the globe. He had openly battled addiction for decades, but in recent years, he claimed to have finally found sobriety. The actor had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy as a treatment for depression. When authorities found no immediate signs of foul play or drug paraphernalia, it seemed plausible that Perry had simply drowned.

However, the results of the coroner’s report raised red flags. High levels of ketamine, in quantities typically used for general anesthesia, were found in Perry’s bloodstream. Given that his last therapy session had been more than a week before his death, this discovery was both puzzling and alarming.

The Investigation: Uncovering a Dark Web of Ketamine Distribution

As the investigation unfolded, it became clear that Matthew Perry’s death was not as straightforward as it initially appeared. The nearly year-long probe led to the uncovering of a vast underground ketamine distribution network, resulting in five arrests, including medical professionals and an alleged dealer known as the “Ketamine Queen.”

One of the central figures in this case was Matthew Perry’s live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who ultimately pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute ketamine which resulted in death. Alongside him, Eric Fleming and Dr. Mark Chavez also admitted guilt to similar charges. However, two key players in this network, Dr. Salvador Plasencia and alleged dealer Jasveen Sangha pleaded not guilty.

The Role of the “Ketamine Queen”

Jasveen Sangha dubbed the “Ketamine Queen,” became a focal point in the investigation. Prosecutors allege that she supplied the ketamine that ultimately led to Matthew Perry’s untimely death. According to the indictment, Sangha sold 50 vials of ketamine to Perry for approximately $11,000. Authorities described her North Hollywood home as a “drug-selling emporium,” where they discovered more than 80 vials of ketamine, along with other drugs such as methamphetamine, cocaine, and Xanax. A handgun was also found at the scene.

Sangha’s home, referred to as the “Sangha Stash House,” was allegedly the base of operations where she packaged and distributed drugs, catering primarily to a wealthy and famous clientele. The indictment highlighted that Sangha only dealt with “high-end and celebrity” clients, making her a significant player in Hollywood’s shadowy drug scene.

While Iwamasa, Fleming, and Chavez accepted their roles in the illegal distribution of drugs, the legal battle for Plasencia and Sangha is ongoing. Dr. Plasencia is accused of falsifying records to cover up his involvement in supplying ketamine to Matthew Perry’s, while Sangha faces nine counts, including conspiracy to distribute ketamine and distribution of ketamine resulting in death. Both have pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial.
